Product Development Manager

The Product Development team is responsible for identifying, designing and launching new products and services to help maintain existing revenue and reputation, and lead to revenue growth. The Product Development team is seeking a Product Development Manager who will be engaged in all elements of project work undertaken by the team, with particular focus on developing and leading clearing, settlement and collateral related initiatives.


  • Have a key role within the Product Development team in analysing strategic issues and provide quantitative and qualitative analysis and recommendations based on market analysis and client feedback
  • Typical scope of projects include: new product and service development/enhancements, business opportunities, and development of the Group’s market structure
  • Responsibilities expected to will focus on clearing, collateral and other post-trade related projects
  • Leading product delivery of the identified projects from conception to launch, including:
  • Identify business opportunities through active member / market engagement and strategic review of commercial and regulatory developments affecting commodity trading and clearing
  • Drafting the business case and articulating the business requirements
  • Identifying the right resources in the business to work on the project
  • Work closely with the IT Project Manager, identifying gaps and stress points in the delivery process and engaging and negotiating with key stakeholders to ensure successful and timely project execution
  • Be the subject matter expert on the specific topic and engage with members and clients to explain / promote the new initiative
  • Have a deep understanding of the full suite of products and services offered by the business, and be able to discuss any topics with members or clients
  • Work in collaboration with internal stakeholders as required, including the management teams of the business, the wider Market Development department, Operations, Risk, Client and Member Services, Physical Operations, Finance, Legal, IT and other teams as required to evaluate and execute projects
  • Developing close relationships with member firms, clients and other external stakeholders at all levels to identify product or service development opportunities

Knowledge and Experience Required:


  • Strong clearing related background, probably from a clearing house or a Member. Deep knowledge of clearing systems desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in OTC clearing, and/or technological product innovation (e.g. blockchain) in clearing and settlements
  • Knowledge of the regulatory developments affecting commodities and financial markets is preferred
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging with senior stakeholders at clients to develop industry-supported products and services
  • Knowledge of collateral management and settlement is preferred
  • Familiarity with, and comfortable discussing, risk modelling and risk perspectives
  • Demonstrable experience of presenting in front of senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects and delivering on time
